    Tips for hair care: How you wash your hair and the products you use can go a long way toward maintaining smooth, shiny hair. Follow these simple tips from dermatologists to maintain healthy hair. 1) Wash oily hair more frequently. How often you wash your hair should be based on how much oil your scalp produces. If your scalp is oily, you may need to wash it as often as once a day.If you have chemically treated hair, your hair may be drier, so you may want to wash it less frequently. As you get older, your scalp makes less oil, so you may not need to shampoo as often. But if you see flakes in your hair, you may not be shampooing enough. This can lead to dandruff and other scalp diseases. 2) Concentrate shampoo on the scalp.  When washing your hair, concentrate on cleaning primarily the scalp, rather than washing the entire length of hair. Washing only your hair can create flyaway hair that is dull and coarse. 3) Use conditioner after every shampoo  unless you use a “2-in-1” shampoo, which cleans and conditions hair. Using a conditioner can significantly improve the look of damaged or weathered hair by increasing shine, decreasing static electricity, improving strength and offering some protection from harmful UV rays. 4) Concentrate conditioner on the tips of the hair. Because conditioners can make fine hair look limp, they only should be used on the tips of the hair and not on the scalp or length of the hair. 5) Choose a shampoo and conditioner formulated specifically for your hair type.  For example, if you color your hair, use a shampoo designed for color-treated hair. If your hair is damaged or chemically treated, consider a “2-in-1” shampoo. Regardless of cost, many shampoo and conditioner brands provide the same benefits. 6) Protect hair when swimming.  Protect your hair from the damaging effects of chlorine by wetting and conditioning your hair before swimming.     Hair &  Skin Care Tips for Holi......... Chemical and metallic colors are health hazards, especially harmful to Skin and Hair. Without precautions negative health effects like severe skin rashes, allergies, dry brittle hair and eye injury are some of them. Ten Hair Care and Skin care tips:  1) Cover your body as much as you can so less area is smeared in color and as a result less area to remove color from.  2) Try to make your whole body slippery by applying a thick layer of coconut oil or any oil on your body and hair. It is this oily coat which will play a major role in protecting from the immediate effect of harmful chemicals of colors. Also this grease will help to wash off colors easily.  3) A day before Holi-day, paint your hands and feet nails with nail polish. Also before going out to play apply a thick layer of Vaseline under your nails, behind your ears and on lips.  4) The strong chemicals in the colors leave your skin dry, so a thick application of petroleum jelly is recommended.  5) It is advisable to play Holi with natural and skin herbal colors or with those made by reputed companies using natural protects.  6) Do not wait for the color to react and damage your skin further. In case of any rash or allergy treatment would include taking a non-sedative, anti-allergic tablet.  7) Protect your hair from getting damaged by wearing a cap or turban. Try to avoid direct contact of colors with the hair.  7) Use lukewarm water to wash off the colors from your face and then apply a mixture of sea salt, glycerin and a few drops of aroma oil which have an anti-bacterial and anti- fungal effect which can prevent the skin from harsh effects of chemicals in the colors.  8) Rub lemon edges over your skin to get rid of the color. The natural bleaching agent in lemon helps remove the sturdy strain then wash it off. After washing it off make sure to apply plenty of moisturizer to prevent the skin from dryness.  9) Most important thing to keep in mind is not to rub your skin vigorously with soap to wipe the face off colors. Instead, use a cleanser followed with a lot of moisturizer. Strickly avoid bleaching, waxing or facial for a week before and after Holi. This routine is recommended because these procedures leave the skin pores open which can prove to be harmful as the residue of colors can easily seep into these pores and make their way to inner layers of skin.  10) If your hair becomes dry, apply oil and sleep overnight.
