Myths vs facts Myth- vitiligo is not curable. Fact- vitiligo is curable. Myth- vitiligo is always hereditary. Fact- however few patients of vitiligo have family history in parents or grandparents, there are many vitiligo patients without family history. Myth- If parents have vitiligo, children will also get vitiligo. Fact- very few(even less than 10%) vitiligo patients have history of vitiligo in children, not all. Myth- Vitiligo might get cured but it is bound to reappear. Fact- Proper care in selecting food and lifestyle can prevent recurrence. Myth- Vitiligo is possible to be cured by lasers or UV therapy only Fact- If followed properly, it can be cured by oral and topical medicines only at home, no need to visit frequently for lasers and UV therapy
